Pantry
A pantry that saves on groceries
Keep what you have at a glance, and the grocery list stops asking for it.
The cheapest groceries are the ones you don't buy twice. Rendition keeps a pantry of what you have, at the level of detail a real kitchen can keep up with, and uses it to keep the grocery list short and the library honest about what you can cook tonight.
Levels, not amounts
Each food is Out, Low, Well-stocked or Optional. Nobody weighs the flour; a glance at the shelf is enough, and a tap on the row keeps it current. Cooking a recipe asks whether anything ran low, so the pantry updates itself as you go.
What it saves you
- Nothing bought twice. The grocery list skips what the pantry already covers, and a shared name ("neutral oil") is covered when any of the oils you keep is on hand.
- Cook what you have. Sort the library by what's in stock, or by "least to buy, shortest to cook", and the stock dot on every recipe shows what's missing before you commit.
- Buy on your own rhythm. Sort the pantry by Recently bought, Frequently bought or Most bought, and see how many times you've checked each food off; Statistics counts your purchases month by month.
Laid out like your kitchen
The pantry groups by storage location, Fridge, Freezer, Pantry, in the order you set. Every food has its aliases ("shoyu" for soy sauce), so a recipe's spelling never hides what's on the shelf, and non-food items live at the foot of the pantry, ready to re-add in a tap.
